REGULAR TUESDAY MORNING CLASS IN PATCHWORK & QUILTING - £65

Tuesdays starting 28th April for 5 weeks.

10.30am to 12.30pm

At this block of classes we will be working on patchwork blocks using techniques such as half square triangles and flying geese.  You can make your blocks into a small quilt, table runner or cushions.  You can work by hand or machine and at your own pace.  Beginners are also welcome at these classes and Esther will get you started by showing you how to rotary cut and piece accurately.  These classes aim to be a relaxed and enjoyable way to learn or improve on your patchwork skills.

QUILT AS YOU GO CUSHION - £20

With Esther Anderson

Friday 15th May  10.30am to 1pm

Quilt as you go is a great technique for small projects as you are quilting while you sew together the patchwork.  At this class we will be making a cushion and you will also get instructions for a table runner that can be made at home with the same technique.  Machine sewn and suitable for all skill levels.

QUILTED TOTE BAG - £30 with Esther Anderson

Saturday 16th May  10.30am to 2.30pm

This is a nice project for beginners or anyone who has not made a bag before.  At the class Esther will show you how to construct the bag and make the handles, we will be quilting the bag so you can try out your free machine quilting or you can quilt with the walking foot and finally how to make pockets and the lining and put the bag together.  Some basic sewing skills would be an advantage but suitable for all skill levels.

LINUS AND CHARITY QUILTS - FREE

Friday 22nd May   10.30am to 1.30pm

Project Linus UK is a wonderful charity staffed by volunteers who give quilts and knitted blankets to sick and traumatised babies, children and teenagers.  We would like to support their work in West Lothian with our free Linus quilt day.  This day is completely free, and we just ask that you please provide your time and expertise to make some quilts for Linus UK and other groups who are in need of help.  This is a good opportunity to dig into your stash and make some colourful children’s quilts or you could bring unfinished blocks or quilt tops that you are happy to donate.  We will also have some spare fabric and wadding for you to use.

FREE MACHINE QUILTING - £20

With Esther Anderson   Friday 29th May       10.30am to 1pm

This is a class for beginners or anyone who wants to get started with free motion quilting.  Free motion quilting is where we drop the feed dogs on our sewing machine so that we are in control of the stitch direction and length.  With free motion quilting you can stitch in any direction and make lots of different patterns and it is a great way to add texture and interest to your quilting.  At this class Esther will show you some simple patterns to get you started and cover the basic techniques of free motion work as well as lots of troubleshooting tips.  This is a great way to get started and build your confidence with free motion quilting.

BEGINNERS CUSHION - £35  With Esther Anderson

Saturday 30th May    10.30am to 2.30pm

This is a beginner’s project and is a great introduction to patchwork and quilting.  Esther will show you how to use the rotary cutting equipment and then accurate piecing.  The pocket of the cushion is then quilted and the edge is bound, and finally we will complete the cushion.   This is a nice simple project to get you started as it combines patchwork, quilting and binding.  The cushion is 18 inches with a handy pocket at the front and these make lovely gifts.

JELLY BABY QUILTS - £35  With Esther Anderson

Saturday 6th June  10.30am to 3pm

A Jelly Baby is a pack of 5 inch strips and at this class we will be making small quilts using these strips.  There are lots of different patterns to choose from and you will hopefully get your quilt made and quilted at the class.  Suitable for all skill levels but some rotary cutting and piecing experience would be an advantage.
